This newly installed Vista machine is acting slow. Sometimes there is
hesitaion when typing. When opening a program it takes a while. The internet
connection gets lost and comes back( I am looking into the wireless
settings).
What I want to learn is what tasks are running and what services are
running? Are any of these tasks and services not needed to be on when
computer boots.
I just bought the MS Vista Admin Pocket Consultant by Stanek. I am
experienced with XP

Firstly, how much memory does your RAM have? To have a computer use Vista smoothly, you need at least, as far as I know, 1 GB of RAM. It's best to put it to 2 GB though, just to be safe. I think all the eye candy in Vista might be too heavy for it to be able to maintain at XP's speed. :)

And yes, XP SP2 currently is faster than Vista.
