Hi all , i just thought that i would share my Vista RC1 experience with you
so far

installation was perfect completed in about 30 -45 minutes

i was very suprised to see that Vista actually searched & installed every
driver
automatically , exactly what did it do ???

i dont really know , if it actually downloaded them or copied them over from
the XP Pro OS (this is more likely !)

i did not have to use my manufacturer CD nor did i download anything myself

a big hoorah !!! too Asus , ATI , AMD & Realtek

only problem that i did encounter was installing Anti Virus , Kaspersky &
Avant
it seems that Vista doe's not allow 3rd party software , some of us have
already read the press releases about this !

& Nero 7 Premium would not install either

but all other programs installed & are working perfectly , iam a
web-designer & programmer so, all Adobe & Macromedia , are my main programs &
are working perfectly !

now Vista RC1 being still a beta , there are many features i would not even
dare to try , like Speech Recongnition " dont want a sudden bug happening &
getting locked out of my computer

& the many networking features "for security reasons" ...but so far running
& executing internet applications are working very good

the administration settings really got my head banging on the computer
it took me awile to figure out all the Administration settings & i think
this will be 80% of user's problems , Microsoft did go abit over the top !

but i can now delete , install & edit files after configuring my Admin
access ;o)

ill keep you all up to date with any future problems ...but so far things
are looking pretty good man :o)

Glad it went well.
Norton does not work with Vista. The following all do; TrenMicro pC-cillin
but it uses masses of cpu at startup. AVG and Avast work with both 64 bit &
32 bit versions. Avast Home is free. AVG has a free 1 month trial. They may
have a free version too. Colin

Hey Spirefm ...sorry typo , i meant Avast ...Avast really its working for you
?? ...i get a compadility error , but my version may be abit out-dated

ill try again , i never put anything cracked or trial in my computers

Yes download the latest Avast Home edition. I wouldn't expect an old version
to wok with Vista. Colin

yes of course , you are correct ...i have have posted many times encouraging
users to not make Vista RC1 there default OS

i really dont understand why people are performing ugrades !
for me Vista needs its own partition & let it do its thing

& to go into msconfig & make sure that it boots along with XP

even though i see that it completely hogs everything , but i did notice a
huge difference in loading , between Vista default boot & XP/Vista boot

but it almost looks like Microsoft finally released a pretty good Beta for
some systems & it can be used as a regular home use OS

iam really amazed as to how good it actually runs

peace Xibit

Can You tell us EXACTLY what You did to be able to "delete , install & edit
files after configuring Your Admin access"? In other words, how EXACTLY did
You configure Your Administration privigeles to be able to install, edit, and
delete files? Thanks
