I'm a software developer and after reading some threads here (kind of
scary in some cases), my conclusion is that with a production machine
like mine it's better not to "play" with Vista. I feel that I could end
in serious troubles and the reward from MS after the beta period
finishes is none. We (users) debug the system risking our work and
system stability and get nothing in return? Ummmmm.

Best,

That's why they tell us not to use our production machines, Jorge. Never,
never, never put a beta on your production machine if there's something
there you can't afford to lose.

That said, I use mobile racks. Look here for information, and then search
mobile rack/s. Just pull out the tray with my production hard drive, and
insert the tray with my beta hard drive. Simple.

Thanks Nancy, I haven't even receive the installation CD, and I don't
count with a second HD in order to run tests. I just wanted to get a
panorama of what's going on with the new OS.

Take care,
JP

Yes, Jorge. The same will be true for RC1. In fact, in your situation I
wouldn't put it on a production box until I tested the final on a test box.

Sure, It's just that I didn't thought it is SO full of bugs. Anyway it's
nice to have this news group, for sure it's going to earn a lot of
headaches to lots of people.

Best,
JP

I've have been using Vista on my production PC and Office 12 since early
CTPs.

I have had a few minor issues, but nothing really big.

To play safe, i don't put any work on my OS hard drive, I put tempory
'checked' out work on a second part and I make sure that our servers always
have the up-to-date version, eg, i check work in.

I have 'played' like this since the beta off NT4 and a little with the beta
of Windows 95.
