I recently bought a retail boxed version of Vista Ultimate.

Noticed that it has _two_ separate install disks, one for a 32 bit PC
only, one for a 64 bit PC only.

Am I allowed to use both disks?

....on two separate PCs?

Puzzled,

I would consider that VERY unlikely, but read the EULA.

You can use either one but not both at the same time.
be aware that with 64bit Vista upgrading from a 32bit OS is NOT an
option..........clean install only.

once you install and register one then try to install and register the second you will get KEY IN USE error message.
to switch it requires a call to ms.

That makes sense.

I am such a Windows newbie that I would not have the foggiest idea of
which Microsoft website to call for permission to switch.

Would anyone mind clueing me in on which website to tackle?

Thanks,

BTW, thanks everyone else for the good advice,
really appreciated it.

As a long time Mac user, I got so annoyed at
the unfair criticism leveled at Windows and PCs
that I decided to learn more about them firsthand.

Presently own six Macs and one PC. (ASUS laptop)

Looking around for a new high-end 32-bit desktop PC
to run a very demanding $900 speech recognition app',
but that sounds like a separate thread.<g>

the error message should provide the info. I do not have it at hand.

Thanks. I will follow that suggestion and do
an "illegitimate" Windows install, just to
obtain the error message info' concerning which
MS site to call for legal install permission.

I am limited to buying a 32 bit desktop PC, because the
$900 speech recognition app' will not run on a 64 bit PC.

(speech app' is Dragon NaturallySpeaking Pro version 9.00)
