Vista insists that IE be default

I am a FF user, and on a Vista Home Premium box I am having problems
getting the OS to leave FF as the default browser. After setting FF as
the default, email links (using TB) open in FF for a while, but after a
few minutes links just fail to open. It is NOT substituting IE as the
default, or at least it isn't opening the links in IE, but the email
links stop opening at all. Assuming that Vista is responsible for this
issue, anyone have ideas on where I might be able to tell Vista to leave
the default browser alone?

Try going to Control Panel - Default Programs and look at the settings there.

Cheers,
Lara

While I don't have an answer I have come across the problem
with one of my users - she also prefers firefox and either
links don't open at all from e-mails or they open in IE.

Then it just started working properly before I had a chance
to look at it.

The mysterious "dead" links in Firefox happened to me too. But it's not
caused by Vista refusing to make FF the default browser since my PC worked
fine for months but then this happened - and it then disappeared again!
Something weird is going on since it appears to be not uncommon.

Control panel/programs/default programs

should give you a list of program and you click on the one it detects and
allows you to choose the default app
