Okay, this is probably a real newb question but I would like to be able to do
a clean install and/or recovery but my computer didn't come with any disks.
Do I need to go my manufacturer's web site or Microsoft or what? My system is
running fine now I need it for "Just in case" purposes.

You should have an extra "Recovery" partition on your hard drive.

When you 1st boot the computer there should be an F key that you would hit
to start a Recovery, from the computer.

Either in the Start Menu of vista, or a manual that came with your computer,
or the computer's manufacturers website, there should be a reference on how
to make Recovery disks

If you can't find a reference, contact the computer Manufacturer, and ask
them how their model is organised to do it.

Thanks for your quick reply Mick. I'll do that.

A good alternative is to purchase a third party backup product or use the
built in one if available on your version, and make a backup as soon as you
have successfully installed, done the settings and Windows Updates, but
before you add ANYTHING else. That will save you a lot of time if you ever
need to reinstall.
