In Windows Help & Support in Vista, all the boxes which should have a picture
in, have a red cross and nothing else.

How can I correct this please?

In vista.general, where your question belongs, rather than this newsgroup,
Ramesh provided an answer to this question 5-1/2 hours ago by pointing
to Daniel Martin's post on Feb. 21 in that newsgroup. It looks like if you
don't have a Content Type value with content "image/png" in your
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.png registry key, you'll have this problem.

You will need to use regedit to fix it if that's causing your problem.

Thankyou Michael. I very much appreciate your help. I downloaded the
registry key, and Hey Presto, it is now fine.

Michael,

I had the same exact problem. I tried your advise and frankly was nervous
about the registry...you know, "scared of the Registry" syndrome.

I have Adobe Photo Elements and one of the file extension associations is
..png. I opened the program and checked the file assocation box for the .png
extension and my "Help and Support" works perfectly and all the images show
properly with no more red "x"'s. Why this worked? Who knows...I certainly
don't.

Thanks for the .png association suggestion or I would not had found this
solution.

I too was "scared about the registry" as I am no expert, but fortunately it
worked. But as a matter of great interest, I too have Adobe Photoshop
Elements! So that must be where the problem lies. Thanks everyone.
