I am running Vista Ultimate on a AMD 64 X2 4200 in 32 bit mode with 2Gb of
memory. I have Visual Web Developer Express, SQL Server EXpress and IIS
running on the system as it my development platform for a web site.
This system upgraded to Vista 3 months ago (dual boot with XP) and has never
shut down completely without a power down. It shutown ok if I boot in safe
mode with networking. Disabling all of the startup (MSConfig) items doesn't
help.
I am assuming that it is some service, but which one. Any ideas on how to
quickly troubleshoot?
I hate to deinstall/reinstall IIS, VWD ex, and MS SQL ex just to find out if
they are the cluprit. I need them.
I have run CHKDISK on the system several times and the power downs don't
appear to have done anything bad to the disk.
