MS, I was a computer geek before it was trendy. Knowing computers use to mean
writing code, not surfing the internet. It seems like the more popular
computers have become the dumber the interface is. you replaced complete menu
options with a short list, hid sytem files, replaced diagnostics with
meaningless help windows. and yes i did try rebooting! Windows Vista seems
well suited for my 7 year old and my mother. but you seem to have forgotten
about those of us who understand something about how computers work but don't
care about pretty graphics. Your advocates say it is easier to find files...
Well "dir *.*" was very easy. even XP had tracability to the simple filing
system of old. In disc defragmenter it doesn't even give you a graphic of
the status! Also there seem to be hundreds of programs running in the
background that seem to do nothing but eat up memory and invite lock ups.

I am not a programer or power user any more and I can not stay on top of all
of the changes with each release. But I do know more than most novices

I am glad you are trying to bring computing to soccer moms but please don't
forget the users who supported you and used your systems since DOS 2.x!

Vista is trying to catch with MAC OS in my opinion. But Operating system is
just options, you can always choose to install Linux or FreeBSD operating
system and enjoy the script command challenge.

Everything you've complained about is easily changed in Vista

1. Don't like the Interface? There are options to change it.
2. Hidden system folders, you have the option to see them take a few minutes
to figure it out, its not that hard. The reason these are hidden are to
prevent accidental deletion.
3. Help files, I will agree here most of the time those are a waste of time.
4. The shorter menu options are a nice feature, who needs to wade through
most of them? Most people use only a few of the options, why keep a long list
to clutter youe screen?
5. The disk defragmentor animation was annoying and I glad its gone.
6. Sorry but the improved graphics are much easier on the eyes, text is
easier to see on Vista, video and pictures are sharper and cleaner.

What exactly do you mean by "...invite lockups."? Your seat is locking up? I
don't take an invitation to lock up to be the same as "locking up." I take
that to mean that you think your system is in danger of locking up but has
not actuallly done so...
