Hi there,

It looks like it takes some time for your computer to wake up from the sleep
mode. You can disable sleep mode in Control Panel->System and
Maintenance->Power Option and change the settings about when the computer
sleeps, or check the BIOS to see whether there are options for you to
disable sleep mode there.

Reads like hibernation instead of sleep.

Is this a laptop or desktop?

Have you checked the power settings?

There are also some know issues with power settings and old bios refer to
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927393/

1. Start -> Control Panel -> System & Maintenance -> Power Options
2. Notice currently selected plan then select 'Change Plan Settings'

regards

Malcolm.
