After repeated clean installs and trying it once as an upgrade to XP Pro,
when I go to use Vista it totally freezes up every time within several
minutes as I click on something. I can ussually press the power button
repeatedly to shut down and restart after it freezes.

3 ghz Prescott, 1 gig approved dual ch mem, Asus P4S800D-X, SB Live 24bit,
and 128mb All-In Wonder 9200. I tryed both an eide and a sata hardrive.

I just had Vista 5728 lock up on me after I finished playing BattleField 2
and returned to the desktop and tried to open the Outlook Beta 2007. I was
thinking it might be related to a video driver because of the game, but no
indications this is true.

It looked really funny to see the clock stop. Initially the mouse still
worked, but it stopped in a few minutes also.

Have you done a checksum on the iso file to make sure it was not corrupted
during dl?.
Did you burn it at a low speed?

I had/have the same problem with my Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe and GeForce 6200
128. The work around for me was to load SIS AGP 121 drivers under "SIS
Accelerated Graphics Port" in Device Manager . I call it a work around
because with the 121 drivers loaded the system is rock solid but all I get
is a green screen in Mediacenter and Mediaplayer (both Mediacenter and
Mediaplayer work with the Vista AGP drivers but of course the system locks
up anywhere from immediate to maybe 5 minutes).
