I followed the suggestion at http://www.pcworld.com/article/150735-2/10_fixes_for_vistas_worst_features.html
that reads as follows:

Quote:
Go to the secret place where you can turn on outgoing protection:
Click Start, type firewall, and select Windows Firewall with Advanced
Security. Click Windows Firewall Properties. The first three of the
resulting dialog box's four tabs contain an Outbound Connections drop-
down menu. In all three, select Block.
Unquote:

The net result was that I couldn't connect to Internet. What wrong did
I do? Does this suggestion block Internet?

What you did wrong was reading the advice and then acting upon it. The
link is worthless and is no more than an advertisement for Comodo aka
Commode.

I suggest you put it back the way it was, and then you need to find
other articles that explain better how to use the Advanced features of
the Windows FW and how/when to use the Advanced features.

You must be a lot smarter then me
I always look for default buttons
and still screw up
