I remember someone here had been using Vista Firewall Control
(http://sphinx-soft.com/Vista/index.html)
and seemed to be satisfied with it as a simplified means of regulating
the Windows outbound firewall. Has anyone else here tried it out and
gained any experience of it to report?

Daze:

I use it to have a notice of (and to control) the initial outbound control
of apps.
I use it with Vista's f/w enabled.
Works great.

Hey, CZ! Thanks for the report. Before trying it myself, I wanted to
make sure it wasn't giving anyone any serious problems. Guess I'll have
to give it a go. ;)

Yep, just installed it and already think I like it. Very simple and easy
way to, as you say, "have a notice of (and to control) the initial
outbound control of apps." Also easy to edit permissions.

Is this an interface to the Vista firewall, or is it another seperate
firewall? The website doesn't make this clear.

just a front end for those that might be confused by firewall terminology
and the way they work

Re: Vista Firewall Control app
and the way they work

Troy:

No, it is not a front-end to the Vista f/w.
If I disable the Vista f/w, Vista Firewall Control continues to function.
