How can I tell Vista Search to only search filenames and not look into
contents.

When one wants to search for a filename, it takes way longer because this
thing wants to search contents too and it is a waste of time...

Suggestions?

Try telling it to search file names only.

Organize > Folder and Search Options > Search Tab > Check the radio button
"Always search filenames only". Click OK until you're done.

Or install "Agent Ransack" and be done with Vista's convoluted search
tool. As a side benefit, you can shut of Indexing too.

I believe it's type in the search box
"file:then-whatever-filename-or-part-you-want-to-find" Check the 'help'.
