Hi

I recently (30th Oct) purchased a Sumsung Q35 T7200 (which comes with a
Vista compatible sticker) as I was told by a supplier that it would qualify
for the Vista Express Upgrade program. However when I look at
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windowsvista/getready/expressupgrade.mspx Samsung
are not mentioned. Also when I spoke to Samsung they said they had no info
on the upgrade.

Please would someone let me know if my Q35 will qualify?

Many thanks

Neil

Neil,

If your hardware manufacturer is not listed on the web site, and there
is nothing on their own web site about Windows Vista upgrades, and
they tell you that they know nothing of participating in the Vista
Express Upgrade program, then it sounds likely that you have an issue
with your supplier misleading you on your possible upgrade rights for
the product you purchased.
You will have to deal with the supplier on this matter.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunatley it's a little more complicated than
that. I was going through one supplier and asking all the questions. When I
actually tried to order they said that the Q35 T7200 was now out of stock so
I went to another supplier, rather stupidly I didn't ask the same questions
again.

I was hoping that maybe someone from Microsoft or Samsung would know more.

Regards

I thought you had already contacted Samsung and drew a blank ?
If they (Samsung) don't know anything, then Microsoft is not in a
position to comment, as the vendors need to participate in the program
and if your vendor has no comment and is not participating then that
sounds like pretty much like the end of the line for now.

Thanks Mike

The fact that they are not listed does not mean that there will be no
express upgrade; for example, Gateway is definitately going to
participate, but isn't listed [yet]. Also, most of the manufacturers
who are participating are not yet operational. Both Dell and Toshiba,
for example, while listed and participating, are not yet actually
accepting applications for the upgrades from buyers.

Thanks Barry I was hoping that they might just be slow off the mark.
