What does this "expire" mean exactly?
Is it going to stop working and will not let you log in until you get the
final version,
or is it just no more support and updates?

Thank you.

On the expiration date you will no longer be able to log in to Windows
Vista.

Will it allow uninstallation or is a reformat (preferably a quick one)
the best/advised/worst solution?

If it is the 'only' operating system on your PC then a reformat would be the
best option. Other than reformatting there really isn't an 'uninstall'
option.

On a dual boot system, i.e., where you have XP on one partition and Vista on
another it would be easier to download the freeware VistaBootPro
application, install it, Run it and the click on the bootloader tab. On the
bootloader tab click on the 'uninstall the vista bootloader' option and then
click Apply. finally reboot the machine. You will now find that, instead of
having a boot menu appear asking whether you wan to boot into Vista or 'an
earlier version of windows' you will now be booting straight into XP or 2000
or server, whichever operating system you are dual booting with. Once booted
into, say XP it is a simple matter of deleting the partition which Vista was
installed on.

VISTA RC2 expires in May 2007. If you want to know when RC2 expires goto the
RUN box and type WINVER. On my machine, it gives 5/31/2007 as expiration for
RC2. RC1 expires in June 2007.

Wahay! Great responses!

I have XP Pro on its own platter and one platter partitioned into two
logical drives.

Vista 64 bit is on one logical disk and Vista 32 bit is on the other
logical partition.

VistBootPro has been core essential in balancing these three OSs into
doing what I prefer (XP Pro default).

As this mobo is limited to some USB 1.0 (honest!) ports i think I'll pop
in a new mobo before putting a fully fledged version of Vista onto this
computer (I like the idea of system utilising plugged in memory cards
but on USB1.0 it may not be as swift as it ought to be?)

Now my dilemma is: wait until Vista 64 bit specced mobos hit the streets
or commit to a 32 bit OS and possibly less expensive mobo?

Do you use your computers or just fiddle with them?
