I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit and am trying to set up a Linkysis
wireless router. When I insert the install CD it will only run for a few
seconds and stop when the image of the router appear.. All other CDs play
normally. I returned the unit to the store because I thought something was
wrong with the CD, but the new one didn't play either. However it ran on
several other machines I tried it on.

Open a Command prompt icon on the Start menu with a rightclick, and 'run as
administrator'
run the command :
IPCONFIG
note the "Default Gateway" address.
Use that address in the address bar of Internet Explorer. For example:
http://192.168.0.1
or whatever the gateway address shows.
This will open the router software without the CD disk.

Thanks for the info Mark but it didn't work. Following your directions, I
located
2 Default Gateway addresses. One did not work and the other sent me to
ASk.com with over 400,000 Default Gateway bits of info.
Thanks again.

Setting up a wireless connection should NOT require the Linksys software.
The windows wireless configuration works fine for mine.
Assuming Windows detects the wireless adapter, when you start the network
wizard, it should bring up the wireless connection wizard.
Unless you have changed it, the default gateway on a Linksys router should
be 192.168.1.1
Enable DHCP on the router and if you enable wireless security, write down or
cut/paste the code to the machine you are connecting.
