My Toshiba laptop comes WITH Windows Vista, but WITHOUT an rs232
serial port.

It does have usb ports and there are adapters that can convert usb to
rs232. However, these adapters are NOT compatible with Windows
Vista, only earlier versions of Windows.

Question, therefore, are there available from Microsoft or other
sources, driver software, that would enable conversion from USB port
to rs232 ports.

All replies, info, opinions, etc. welcomed! Aaron

IOGEAR has one for $30 US that's compatible with Vista. Its XP
drivers work with Vista. For most hardware, 32 bit XP drivers work
with 32 bit Vista, or are XP/Vista drivers.
