I have vista home premium but when I select a file in the documents folder I
only get a message in the details pane saying 1 Item selected. How can I get
it to display all the details so i can tag a file ? Any ideas or doesnt home
premium support this feature

Click on the file and on the bottom of the window explorer, you will be able
to tag the file (under Tags).

However you cannot tag a folder, and not all files supports tagging.

What type file? Not all files have tags.

The "1 Item Selected" is in the border, below the Detail Pane.

Thanks Jabez but I dont have anything at the bottom of window explorer except
writing to say "1 item selected" and its size. From Dave's reply that this
writing is in the border below the Detail Pane I suspect that my problem is
that the Detail Pane is hidden and I dont know how to make it appear

Many thanks Dave but it doesnt work with any type of file. You say "1 item
selected" is in the border below the Detail Pane which means my Detail Pane
must be hidden.Do you know how to make it appear

Click on Organize - Layout - Details Pane

Thanks Dave . Problem solved. I was looking a the status bar and thinking it
was the Details Pane which was hidden but is now properly in place.

Hi, Rob.

The "I item selected" usually is in the Status Bar. Toggle this on or off
by clicking View | Status Bar.

If you don't see the Menu Bar with "File Edit View Tools Help", then
turn it on temporarily by pressing Alt. Or turn it on (semi-)permanently by
clicking Organize | Layout | Menu Bar.

Also on that Organize | Layout menu are Details Pane, Preview Pane and
Navigation Pane. Try toggling each of them on and off to see what each does
and whether you like it better on or off.

Explore the Explorer window! You might find all sorts of things that you
like - or don't. There's a lot of useful information if you click on Help.

Hi,RC
Many thanks for a most detailed and complete reply. I finally got there via
help from Dave and Jabez but if I had read yours first I could have saved
myself a lot of hassle

Hi, Rob.

I'm glad I could help. And thanks for the feedback. It should come in
handy next time someone has a similar problem. ;<)
