It gets through coping the files, then expanding them, and installing all
options. but when it gets to completing the installation. the computer goes
into a deadlock.

I am running a p4 3.0Ghz, 1 Gig ram, a ATI 9500 series 256mb Video Card, 160
GB Hard Drive.

I was trying to upgrade from XP Home.

Some people here have reported a 2-4 hour upgrade installation time. Have
you waited this long, or are you just assuming that the computer has
stalled?

My clean installations have been taking about 28 minutes.

Sorry it took so long to respond,

when it gets to 75% of finishing coping files the harddrive just goes into
what seems like a standby stage, where it would just pulseate every second, i
left it like that for 5 hours at 75%. one day I left it over night.
