Vista compatible firewalls?

I am trying to find a good firewall for Vista and I am having a hard time
doing it. I usually used Zonealarm but it does not currently support Vista.
I tried the Windows One care and I did not like it. I have now tried about
6-7 others which are incompatible. What are some good firewalls that can be
used with Vista? Thanks for any help.

You can use VistaFirewallControl, available from download.com
(http://www.download.com/VistaFirewallControl/3000-10435_4-10623889.html)

It acts much like ZoneAlarm in that you get a popup when something is trying
to get outside. Unlike ZA, you are the brains behind the decision as to what
you want to choose for permissions. There are four choices:

1. Disable All

2. Enable All

3. Incoming Only

4. Outgoing Only

What I do is first apply Outgoing only. If I still can't get the program to
communicate I then edit the permissions to be Enable All.

If you are ever presented with a popup and you do not believe that you
initiated the action, you had better say Disable All, at least until you get
to investigate the reason for the popup.

Isn't this actually just an interface for the built-in Vista Firewall?

Hello OT,

May I ask a serious question?

It required Microsoft developers / computer scientist approximately
eight-years for designing Windows Vista, including Vista's inhertent Firewall.

Now my question: Do you know of a third party vendor that used eight-years
developing their firewall for being not only compatible with Windows Vista
but superior to Vista's Firewall?

You wrote that you haved tried 6-7 others which are incompatible with
Vista... how much more of your time will be devoted to trying... please
understand, I'm not attempting to be sarcastic.

Respectfully,

You're a moron.

No; if I disable Vista's firewall, VistaFirewallControl continues to work.

I still feel unconvinced that it is a separate firewall. Are you sure that
you stopped the service?

Oh, really!? I've been using VistaFirewallControl, believing it to be an
interface for Vista's firewall, as well. And now I go to the website
where I got it, Sphynx.com, and see "This account has been suspended" .
.. . Boy, am I discomboobled.

Yes.

Also, note that it does not create rules within the Vista f/w, which it
would do if it were just a front-end product.

BTW, I run both VistaFirewallControl and the Vista f/w at the same time.

Not very comforting, is it?
