Every OS needs drivers for hardware. Check the download
site for the printer or scanner, and see if Vista
drivers or software are provided.
Not all software runs on Vista. Sometimes updates
are needed.
Fortunately, the USB hub should work, as many USB
protocol stacks are supported by the OS.
Some functions have disappeared from Vista, such as
Firewire networking, or a free piece of FAX software.
(FAX software is in the business version of Vista.)
The end result is, just like with any OS choice, there
is a lot of research to do, before concluding the
transition will be problem free.
