Vista was working fine. After trying to install the HP software (the latest
downloaded from the HP web site) for USB Laserjet 3050, it wouldnt locate any
drivers. Now any device I plug in, it cant locate any drivers, even though
it detects the new hardware correctly.

I removed all HP folders, and registry entries to try to correct the
problem, but makes no difference.

My System Restore doesnt go back that far, so cant do that. :(

you tried to delete the infcache.1 file?

Try this fix to see if it repairs your problem, Before Posting. This
solution has worked for
some people with problematic USB and General Devices:

1. Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf

2. Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, select Properties >Security > Edit,
and give your account full control.

3. Delete INFCACHE.1 (Or just to be safe, rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK or
temporarily move to your desktop but you shouldn't need to, windows doesn't
need that file to run, and if it needs to it recreates it).

4. REBOOT

I have tried this fix and I still havethe problem. Thanks. Is there anyone else that may have found a solution. It is amazing that I can't find anything from Microsoft even though I see a lot of posts on this site and at least 3 others related to this issue.
