Vista Build 5728 hangs at disc.sys after In-OS installation

And it seems to hang regardless if I try to install within XP or if I boot
off the DVD. Everytime, it'll have the green progress bar go, then, the
monitor will just be black (not standby) and be in a halted state. No matter
what I've tried, I've had no success.

I've read suggestions to turn off SATA options in the BIOS, but I can't do
this, because my XP RUNS off the SATA drive. If I turn off all the SATA
options, I can boot to the DVD and get a mouse with a black background, but
nothing else.

I really want to try Vista out, but I haven't had a successful installation
since the public builds have started. I'm noticing some people have issues
with the NVidia 4 Chipset, which I have. Could that be it? If so, or if not,
is there any solution to this problem that doesn't require turning off SATA
completely?
 
There is a known issue with nForce chipsets that cause the installation to
fail either with SATA drives and also Memory issues. If you are using SATA
drives you may or may not be able to have vista pick up your drives due to
the SATA drivers. If nVidia has not released a set of drivers for your
chipset and / or SATA controller chances are you will not be able to boot
from the CD to do the install.
