I have just setup my PC with the new Vista beta 2 o/s on build 5384 and I
cant get my d-link wireless adapter to work. The adapter is D-Link Airplus G
DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter (rev.B)

I have downloaded the latest driver from their website but that made no
difference and also spoken with d-link tech support and they say cos its beta
they cant support it and just say it will be supported when the final release
is published.

anyone had the same problem and managed to get round it? if so what did you
do?

also has anyone got a wireless usb adapter working on the the build? if so
what make&model of adapter do you have as I may then have to look to
upgrade/change product?

Not sure what happened to my previous post, but here it is again...

I was able to get my DWL-G120 rev. B1 WiFi USB adapter to work on Vista x86
Beta 2. I used a combination of a driver (1.0.10.1) modified by Okurisama.
The original driver is available on the D-Link website and is by
GlobespanVirata (now Conexant), and the modified driver is available at
either of these two sites:

http://www.mepislovers.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=15028&forum=33

or

http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=189755

Originally, I went ahead and updated the G120 driver (3.0.22.0) from Windows
Update, but found that after 10 min or so, it would lose connection to the
Internet and only have limited access to my D-Link DI-624 WiFi router (not
sure yet if the problem is the driver or Trend Micro's PCCillin - could not
uninstall PCCillin, so unsure at this point). I could not reconnect unless I
rebooted my PC.

I could rollback the driver, but the problem persisted. So in order to get
the benefit of the new driver I copied the newer PRISMA02.sys file over to my
G120 driver directory and replaced the older version. I then installed a
fresh copy of Vista and applied the modified driver, and it works perfectly
so far; although it still reports the driver as being 1.0.10.1 despite that
it's using the 3.0.22.0 PRISMA02.sys file. I just don't select the download
from Windows Update anymore.

In checking out the DWL-G122 drivers, they appear to have different files
than the G120 (no PRISMA02.sys file for example); so I cannot say if you can
use the G120 drivers instead.

I am using a HAWKING Mini Wireless-G USB 2.0 Network Adapter HWU54G and it
installs and runs very good on the Vista 2 build 5384 using the Win XP
driver that was delivered with the adapter.
Eventually check their homepage www.hawkingtech.com
