I gather that the new beta release isnt compatible with SATA drives, have
tried many times to install but keeps hanging right on registration key
insertion, have read some of the comments in the newsgroup and seems i am not
the only one with SATA drives having this problem. So i guess ill have to
wait till Microsft brings out the proper version of Vista and hopefully that
will be SATA enabled.

Had a bear of a time here, but finally got it installed with the Promise SATA
RAID controller set to IDE mode. It is "absolutely" necessary - or at least
was in my case - to have the SATA drivers available during the intial setup.
If you don't have the SATA or mainboard driver disk available, you should be
able to download them from the manufacturers website. Just be sure you have
the ones for WinXP.

Does it mean that I must only insert my mainboard cd-rom to make the computer
recognize my HD-sata (maxtor) during the vista's installation ? I tryed many
times with the 5308 version, but my computer hadn't seen the hard drive while
booting from dvd. I have a floppy disk (Promise Sata) to install the HD under
win xp, but it does'nt work for vista. So, is the motherboard's cd-rom a
soluce ?

(scuse for my english...)
