Dear Vista gurus,

I have a Vista Enterprise (SP1) and am trying to make file backup.

As you know when we were running XP the backup tool allowed backing up data
from mapped network drives and even would allow you to brows the network and
(when provided with the right credentials) connect to certain network drives
to chose data areas to bakup.

Unless I am being very silly I just can not (forthe lif eof me) find out how
to back up network drives. Ihave correctly mapped the drives with full
permission but the mapped drive simply does not appear in the list of
available areas to back up.

I will be eternally thankful for your help and advise.

Rgds,
Bina

Vista has stopped using NTbackup previously used in XP, 2003 server
etc....
Best option if you want it on Vista is to copy NTbackup from an XP
workstation. The following is a good article on how to do it.
http://www.petri.co.il/installing_windows_xp_ntbackup_on_windows_vista.htm

Once you have NTbackup on Vista simply type ntbackup in the run
command box and that will run the utility.

Copy following files from an XP or 2003 server c:\windows\system32
Ntbackup.exe
Ntmsapi.dll
Vssapi.dll

Copy to c:\Windows on your vista pc
From vista run command: ntbackup

Thanks you ever so much. I will try it and post the result.
