Vista Availability on MSDN

I called MSDN and they mentioned that Vista RTM will be available for
download on Tuesday, November 21. So much for 7 days after RTM.

Not surprised! They have been getting slower and slower to get the Betas and
RC 1 and RC 2 out and did not even bother to put out some of the later
builds which were available to the public!

Reliable sources (more reliable than MSDN?) are stating Vista will be
available on MSDN from this Friday, November 17th. The same sources stated
that Office 2007 would be on MSDN from Sunday, November 12 and that turned
out to be exactly right.

We shall see.
Reliable sources within Microsoft have stated Friday 17 November for Vista
RTM to MSDN.
That is within the 7 business days promised.
These same sources were correct when they forecasted Office delivery to
MSDN.
But, we shall have to wait and see.

Hello Jupiter Jones [MVP],

Yeah that notice on MSDN is pretty recent so I'm kinda thinking it'll be
up there Friday, even if late, since it'd be silly to put up a RTM availability
notice this close to the fact when they should know if they can do it or
not. Office 2007 wasn't on there till yesterday afternoon, and MSDN was
acting kinda flaky all day...

You *need*?

Why don't you phone Microsoft direct and tell them that you "need" Vista
by Friday - I'm sure they'll help you out and make you a special case...

Sheesh.

Hasta la vista?
ain't that Spanish Fer I Am A Stupid Loud Mouthed Know It All?
Only stupid Yanks need shrinks

I guess they just want to take some time so that the bit-torrent network
could take part of the bandwidth load.

I have a New Confidential Software Beta that I need to Test on Windows Vista
RTM A.S.A.P., Just FYI.

I have been watching your posts and I feel I must comment.

So from the information you have provided in your rants

A company has developed a product that they want beta tested.
They have obviously developed this on one or more builds of Windows
Vista during the development cycle.
They have released this and have apparently stated that the support OS
for this Beta program is the RTM version of Windows Vista.
You signed up to their program
You can not satisfy the requirements to participate in this program at
this time.
Other who signed up may be able to, as members of other Microsoft
programs that have access to earlier releases of RTM code.
The application vendor knows that RTM availability will arrive to
various classes of tester over a period of time from the OEMs, to the
TAP program members to Volume Licensed customers to MSDN , then
TechNet, then the general retail public next year.
So there is no onus on them to be concerned about the fact that you
fall into one of the staggered release categories, their Beta program
(if they are a mainstream professional software house) will have been
scheduled to allow for the cross section of testers and their access
to the required platform being staggered.
So you have no great right to be demanding anything as you are
accepted as one of their beta testers and your time line for
participation in the program will have been factored in.

It is frankly surprising that someone who takes out an MSDN
subscription to gain access to products for the development and
testing of software appears to be a little immature in their
continuous ranting for access to software that will arrive in a couple
of days.

Kevin is a child with some real mental issues. He didn't
pay for the MSDN subscription, his mommy and daddy did-
anything to keep him busy and out of their hair.

You see how annoying he is here with his outbursts and
whining- imagine, what he pulls on his poor parents.
Lawd have mercy.

Hopefully, if he ever manages to grow up enough and give his parents and us
a break, he might find some time to do something other than the following:

1. Going round and round in circles beta testing whatever he can get his
hands on.

2. Spelling every word in the English language beginning with a capital
letter, or entirley in capitals.

3. Ending every paragraph that comes from his senseless head with 'just
FYI'.

Loz.
