Vista Anytime Upgrade is a Pain

I am enjoying Vista 64 Home Premium on a new build with a Q6600 and 8gigs of
RAM on an ASUS P5K-E/wifi. Everything works fine, but I need some good
backup software and noticed that Vista Ultimate has built-in complete backup
software so I thought I would give it a try. Well, I get in trouble with the
Windows Anytime Upgrade immediately. I have to pay online, and then, since I
don't have the Windows Anytime Upgrade Disk, I need to wait for it to be
delivered -- and hope the store I got it from has the disk. This seems a bit
absurd if you want to make it easy to upgrade to Ultimate. I am then told
that on some sites it takes more than an hour to upgrade to Ultimate.
Perhaps I will just get Norton Ghost 12 and call it a day. PTB

Hi,

If the only reason you are upgrading is for the backup utility, then you'd
be better off with a third party tool. There are several available in
addition to the Norton tool, like Acronis True Image and Image for Windows.

Thanks for the suggestion. Acronis True Image 11 and Norton Ghost 11 both
look good, but will probably go with Acronis after looking at both trial
versions. Chrs, PTB
