Have a look at this article:

There have been some other POP3 problems reported, but, without knowing what
symptoms you're seeing, there's no way to tell if any of the fixes that have
surfaced will help with your problem.

there is a program called Ypops that may help you in retrieving your yahoo mail using WM.

Note that the subject of this thread is about "Yahoo POP3 mail"
not Yahoo web mail.

Also note that Yahoo doesn't offer POP3 e-mail.

But...maybe the OP has Yahoo Plus...
http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/

Yep, I have Yahoo's POP3 mail through an arrangement with my
DSL provider (AT&T/SBC). Strange that the first URL you cited has
no link to the second URL, but then Yahoo is not known for
consistency. ;-)

I was using web-based email in Windows Mail (Yahoo Mail) for about 2 weeks
and then it just stopped working. Any ideas? I get the following error:

Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user/password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I am using the correct user name and password.

Exporting my account, deleting it, and then importing it again (and
inserting my user/password info upon request) made it work again. No idea why.

There is a strong possibility that your antivirus program is corrupting
the account. If you are using McAfee or Norton antivirus, uninstall
and get something better. Whatever antivirus program you get, make
sure its mail scanning function is turned off.

Gary,
Pop3 fee based Yahoo is present on two Vista Ultimate units at this end.
N360(Symantec) one one, and Avast on another.
Email scanning is off on both(as it should be)

I've run also run it with email scanning on(as a test on and off )on one
system since last Aug and both the last day with the Yahoo account in both
Outlook or Windows Mail without any corruption, as well as a legacy MSn
pop3, Earthlink, RealBox, and two other pop3 accounts(org and edu).

Agreed email scanning should be off for all the right reasons...but imo,
something else may have been at play.

E.g. Yesterday Yahoo was extremely troublesome with authentication even on
an XP machine with OL. Access to the web mail interface was also
intermittent late afternoon e.s.t.

Using email scanning of incoming and outgoing mail (AVG 7.5 Free) here
and it causes no problems. It can be the password so if you do get a
problem deleting and re-entering the password is always worth doing.
Also restarting the computer should always be on the list of things to
do.
