I have a new computer with VIsta Premium. I can't download or run any of my
olditems off a website. Also can't run some other items. I tried
compatability etc. The items aren't compatible with the new Vist and they
don't know when they will be. SO
question: I would like to go back to windows XP or older so I can run the
way I use too, until the rest of the world catches up to Vista. How can I do
this. I heard that the drivers won't work if I download XP?
Help Please on a Fix.

Maybe it's an idea to install XP on a separate partition? You can
make an extra partition with Vista's Drivemanagement and install
there XP. After that, with te program EasyBCD you can restore Vista's
bootmanagement.

Nachtwacht,
Being that I'm not very computer savy can you explain how to do this. Also
will I have any problems after I launch this.
Thanks
Wolfeman

How far back do you want to go? My neighbor has a computer running Windows
3.1.1. Never uses it on the internet. He is beginning to have a problem
when he has to replace a printer for other such device

There is no "Fix" per se. First thing you need to do is research to see if
there are XP compatible drivers available from the computer manufacturer for
this system. If not then XP won't run on it. Check on the computer
manufacturer's web site.

If you don't feel comfortable doing all this, including installing XP, then
contact a competent computer tech to help you out.

Here is a link on how to clean install XP. You'll need a copy of XP, of
course. Whether you can use a copy you already own depends. OEM versions
are tied by the license to the first system on which they are installed and
can't be moved to a different computer. A retail version can.
