What if anything should we expect and SP2 for Vista? First question of course is when can we expect it?

Ross

SP2 should be out 2009, before Windows 7 at least.

The first Beta comes out next month.

As far as I know, it will have minor speed improvements. Mostly an update
rollup.

As usual, any expectations that anyone might have before Microsoft has
announced what's in it and when it will be released are very likely
wrong.

My advice is to ignore any answers to these questions. They are merely
guesses, and may or may not be correct.

Heck SP1 just came out!!!!

We should expect a Service Pack, a roll up of all prior updates. Nothing
special, just makes reinstalling the system a bit easier.

When Microsoft decide it is a good time to do a drop, any speculation on the
date is just speculation at this point.

If anyone really knew when, they could make a killing in the market with
their psychic abilities.
It is still in Alpha (in house use only).
The firet BETA is supposed to be out next month.
It could be 3 months, it could be 23 months...NO ONE, not even MS knows for
sure.

I am sure the good people at Microsoft are working on Windows 7 due to the
failure of Vista to be taken by enterprises (who still have the option of
"downgrading" to XP). It is only the individual who is forced to use Vista,
despite the OS being faulty in many ways.

Don't expect SP2 soon. Fixing Vista may negatively impact on Windows 7
sales, due to be released in 2009.

Vista = Windows ME. No real fixes for ME, apart from buying another OS.

I do not see the big beef you have with Vista, yeah I know for some people
it is a resource hog, however other than before SP1 I have had no issues with
Vista and have enjoyed it ever since SP1, although I do and can not wait for
SP2 to come out!!!!! And to compare Vista to Windows ME You have to be about
as stupid as a monkey to think Vista is as poorly done and as crappy as ME
was at all! Now as for Vista's UAC and such, I do get tired of every time I
upgrade World of Warcraft I have to Grant access to the program and the
program launcher again and again! it is repetitive in the most annoying way.
And by the way if you are a gamer Build up your computer and use Vista as
your operating system, Games are much better quality, speed, and more
reliable in Vista than in XP, Don't get me wrong I loved XP Media Center and
XP in general, but the look, the feel, the reliability and the quality other
than before SP1 is much better, UNLESS you bought the computer with Vista
from a retailer than I would suggest tearing down your PC to bare bones and
building it back up with NEW parts replacing the Processor is one big step,
and maxing out your Mobo with as much memory as the system allows on your 32
bit or 64 bit system, then while you are at it add in a few hard drives so
you can add extra page filing for some extra Virtual Ram. And your system
will run nice and smooth, I have had no problem at all With Vista after SP1
and actually love it. I am always multi-tasking having Worlf of Warcraft,
Yahoo, Windows Live mail, a chat program, and always checking Myspace, and
other websites , listening to XM radio Streaming via broadband on my VISTA
running computer all at the same time and some tmes doing more such as
opening Guild Wars to talk to my friends that did not switch to WoW (World of
Warcraft) and still only use less than 29% CPU with a P4 3.2GHZ Dual
Processor. And under 40% System Ram with 2GB of Ram, which I was running 3 GB
and it was using only 30%-35% of the system ram. Where on XP running those
same progs and specs it would jump to 50%-60% CPU and about 50%-55%-60%
System Ram, but with XP I did not have the page filing set max over 3 Hard
drives in which I do now. So as for you people who hate on Vista, if you
don't like gaming then do not buy it, and btw even with out the old sound
support and the new one in music through Winamp and Game Sounds of WoW sound
better on Vista with a 5.1 Sorround sound system, burning CDs and DVDs I
noticed is also a bit on the faster side since SP1 came in but before SP1 XP
had Vista beat hands down, Although I admit XP still has some better perks
that Vista has not matched but Vista also has perks XP does not. If you want
a more stable system then XP go for XP MCE 05' (Media Center Edition 2005) or
Vista. Besides anoter perk Vista has over both XP and XP MCE 05, is the
ability to repair it's self when it comes to minor errors, Where XP you may
as reformat and start over AGAIN! So for all of you that have such big
problems with Vista, either you have never used it, you used it before SP1
was released, You need to learn how to use a computer or you are just a Mac
fan (excluding the new Mac that runs Vista better than a PC, except your
still limited to not being able to run some programs) Or you have never used
Vista at all and only heard bad things from 1 or 2 maybe both examples
listed: 1. You watch too much Mac commercials. OR 2. You heard bad things
from those who used Vista when it was released too soon, and they did not
just go back to XP MCE until SP1 final release was finally released!

So until you have valid complaints about it then maybe you should keep your
opinions and lack of knowledge to yourself, quit trying to make other people
share your fear of Vista with you. You stand alone other the other computer
illiterate people that are scared to make a change to a new system, the same
thing will happen when a new Windows Operating System is released, you're
most likely too afraid to give up Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mozilla
Firefox and Safari LOL.

Peace!
