Vista and Old Graphics Programs

Someone told me that Vista won't run any of his old graphics programs that he
ran on XP and he believes he will have to wait for a service patch. He thinks
that Microsoft did a poor job in informing consumers. He got a new computer
with Vista on it and no longer has XP. Does anyone have any suggestions?

He can install VirtualPC 2007 (free) and run XP through that. What
programs?

Well if a program does not work, it is down to the software developers to
create the patch, this has nothing to do with Microsoft.
What programs is he having a problem with? There may be a simple
workaround.

A service patch will not cure his problem - it is the responsibility of the
application provider to provide Vista capable drivers.
If he had run Winnows Upgrade Advisor on his old XP computer it would have
alerted him to any difficulties he may experience going to Vista even though
he was not upgrading XP..
Just curious - what happened to the XP computer?

You can recommend Compatibility Mode (Right click exe file, properties,
Compatibility). You can run it as it would in Windows XP SP2.

Let us know what programs, and we may be able to find a workaround.

That reminds me. I was looking at the EULA today for something and it says
that running Home Premium via virtualisation is not allowed but is allowed
on Ultimate.
Any ideas why they would have this stupid clause?

Hmmm... Apparently Adobe Creative Suite 2 isn't among any of "his old
graphics programs..."

CS2 appears to be quite at home with Ultimate.
