Release 9.7 of Lotus 123 is my workhorse software. Can it be used
successfully with Windows Vista?

Ask the software vendor for that product. Even if someone posts a reply to
tell you "I have it working with no problems" or something similar, does not
mean that it will work without problems on your system/environment. To get a
viable opinion, you would need someone with the same exact
hardware/software/setup that you are running.

At this point, any software developer who cares, has had the opportunity to
test their products on Vista.

Check out the IBM website for Lotus 123.

Here's one reference to Smartsuite and VISTA:

I've got the N98 version installed on XP so I'll try running the CD
installation in VISTA but I use it all less and less now, mostly just
Lotus WordPro -- the world's best word processor! <g>

They've gotten very mercenary on updates and it looks like everything
has to be paid for ..... 8:((

I've just installed the Lotus Smartsuite 9.8 (that HELP / About for
some reason identifies as N99.8.0208.0800) under VISTA business and it
seems to go fine although I've only done some trial opening of files
etc.

One point I missed/messed was that I told it to do a Complete
Installation since I wanted to try out more than the WordPro I had on
XP. It did this fine but in fact what it did on my dual boot was to
find WordPro on what was now Drive D: (the XP drive) and install it
there so that it added all the Smartsuite stuff. Fortunately it did not
overwrite the folder with my Wordpro data files in .....

The top Smartsuite bar seems to work OK but I never used it previously
since it slowed down booting up to the desktop and I don't use its
features enough to justify losing the screen space.

I may do a custom uninstall leaving Wordpro and then do a Custom
install onto VISTA drive C:

What is interesting is that it does seem to share the single Drive D:
installation between XP and VISTA in the sense that I can run it from
either location.

Hope that helps you even if you are on 9.7
