Vista and Animated gifs

What has MS Vista got against gif format - static or animated????

In XP, one can set an animated gif as the desktop file. Vista sternly
responds that it is not an appropriate file format.

WTF?????

Who pays the wages of these shambling twisted horrors in the MS programming
dungeons, who display all the symptoms of having delusions of relevance?

Grrrrrrr

Active desktop is no more.
It's a security risk they say.
There are third party programs that will allow it, or stick with an OS that
not only allows it...but supports it.

Thank you. Now remind me - which shambling twisted horrors wrote the
program code that facilitates the security risk that they now counter by
crippling existing features???

The often heard excuse..."security" is like most things from
Microsoft, simply bullshit. While Windows Explorer (the shell) nor
it's picture viewer any longer shows animation in GIFS that support
it, Microsoft's browser still does. So that kind of blows the we did
it for security claim right out of the water.

So if you wanted you could navigate to the folder you have animated
gifs in, then right click on a file then open with IE7.

Other programs like XnView still will animate GIFS in a folder view as
you click through one after another, but will disable Aero's color
scheme dropping back to the default color scheme which shouldn't
impact the playback of the GIFS. Mine don't anyway.

Why can't you just convert the GIF into a JPG or PNG, or something else a
bit more modern?

bit more modern?

And people wonder why I keep saying MVP's (in general) are dumb.

AN A-N-I-M-A-T-E-D gif does EXACTLY what the name suggests. It
animates. A JPG or PNG file can not show animation.

Microsoft, wise up and kill the MVP program. You have a bunch of
fools giving out incorrect information. How dumb is that?

The last time you saw an animated JPG or PNG was?

Come on, he's a MVP, only expect him to blindly support Microsoft, not
give useful or accurate answers. That rarely happens!

Mine work just fine. I get animations sometimes when I'm not expecting
it.

Maybe the dumb ones are the bashers(ringmaster).

You keep proving what a idiot you are, but we already know.

Animated GIFS no longer animate in Explorer as thumbnails or when
launched by the default viewer since the boobs at Microsoft now
apparently consider them a security threat. That's not an opinion, it
is a fact a dumb ass whining loser like you apparently is unaware of.
Which is why I love to kick dummies like you around and prove what
idiots you actually are.

To prove how dumb the Boys of Redmond are you can still view animated
GIFS with Microsoft's IE7 browser. So take your pick. Either Microsoft
left a door open by mistake or they simply failed to implement a
feature that worked fine in XP and earlier. It makes absolutely no
sense at all for Explorer (the shell) to not animate the file while
Explorer (the browser) still does.
You know the ones that "claim" to know computers better then the people
that created them in the first place. But can't get Vista to work.

I know Vista way better than any of the dumb ass punks that flap their
gums here and never had any problem getting Vista to work. I do report
stupid Microsoft blunders in how Vista was written which surely sets
that sets off dopes like you causing you to get your shorts all
bunched up.
Ignorant is the term that comes to mind.

More like stupid in your case. Since you proved not only were you too
dumb to know the correct answer, you aren't the least bit concerned
with learning was the correct answer is which makes you a idiot.

Install a codec pack proffesor. Discoveries are well within reach. Open
you eyes instead of closing your tiny mind.

Animation in your desktop wallpeper ion Vista? (Active Desktop)

Hmmmmm, I must be really stupid because I can't do it without third party
software.

In response to the trolls.

Oh I get it, everyone that doesn't bow down and worship Microsoft is a
troll.

Damn, you're just another dummy. This newsgroup is infested with no
nothing dummies... many of them MVPs.

Yes, we know, time moves forward. Still there are millions of people
that have an extensive collection of animated GIF files. What should
they do with them? It is mind boggling that Microsoft is so dumb to
support them still in their IE7 browser, but refuses to animated them
in their default viewer or from the shell. On second thought I
shouldn't really be surprised because Microsoft has a long history of
doing lame things like this.

Can you explain why their browser still supports animated GIF viewing
while Explorer and it's default viewer doesn't? I won't hold my breath
waiting for any answer.

Naturally some no nothing MVP tries to defend this Microsoft stupidity
which after all, let me be honest, THAT is the real purpose of
MVP's... defend the moronic decisions of Microsoft which is why they
get picked, certainly not for the knowledge which you already proved
is lacking.
1) Animated GIF on the desktop would look terrible. We've moved on a bit
since ugly-looking Windows XP and Linux now.

We haven't moved on at all. Same stupid people saying the same dumb
things they always have. The point that zooms over your head was the
original posters asked why Vista doesn't display animated GIFS
properly, you only made excuses. Again, typical of the MVP crowd and
why this newsgroup is joke.

In response to the trolls.

And your definition of "troll" would be anyone who has the <harummph>
audacity to question a repy from you, right?

This reply brought to you by the letters "F" and "U".

What an elitist. If it looked good under XP, what makes you think the same
video card and monitor wouldn't do it justice under Vista? There's that
sheep mentality again, take whatever is foist upon you and not question it.
No wonder politicians and evangelists thrive.

Some of these MVP characters are a riot. If there house ever caught on
fire they would grab their Vista DVD and run out the door.

You are stupid here RingNut, and it wasn't even funny. If your asylum
caught fire, you would be gone, because they couldn't un-strap and
un-chain you in time. I din't even think someone would even come to your
cell. The crowd would go wild, as they would burn you like Frankenstein.

Whoops! Another moron to add to my boob bin.
