Vista 64bit registration problem

I cannot seem to be able to register my 64 bit version of Vista.
I get the problem when I try a 'straight out the box' installation with no
changes to the default. I am doing the installation from a MS DVD.

It goes to the registration page, informs me it wants to run an ActiveX
component, then stops with an 'error on page' message. (Missing file). I
cannot get past this point.

32 bit installation goes quite happily past this point.

Any help/suggestions?

Malcolm.

Registration is optional. Activation, which does not involve visiting
Microsoft via IE, is mandatory.

I tried registration on the website in Vista x64 and it doesn't work ;)
Error on page. (Tried in both 64bit and 32bit versions of IE too).

I have not been able to install the ActiveX plug-in into IE7with Vista x64
5384, either. My solution, of course, is to use Opera, as I do anyway, but
that does not fix the problem.
