Is anyone running Vista 64 on an HP m8120n?
Have you seen any performance advantage with Vista 64?
Has anyone upgraded beyond 3GB? Any noticable improvement over vista 32?

I'm thinking of installing Vista 64 and adding some memory

thanks,

Rod

Performance wise, not really. Actually, I take that back. Depending on
the application. If you are running a program (video editing, images,
gaming) that requires/uses more than 3 GB of RAM, then yes, it does help
performance. Running FSX with 4 GB rather than 2 GB does make a
difference. Of course, running with Active Weather, and a bunch of
addon's does increase the memory requirements.

As for 64 Bit. You won't notice much, if any, improvement unless your
apps make use of 64 bit, and even then it's not that much...

Dustin, thanks for the reply. have you installed vista 64 on the HP m8120n?
really would like to know if the 8120 can see the extra memory. I've read
that some bios's need the ability to remap memory and there is no such option
on the m8120n bios. But maybe it inherit in the bios and you do not have to
enable it. In the docs it does say that the HP m8120n can have up to 8GB.

thanks

Usually, your BIOS should automatically see the added RAM. With the HP,
it may give you an error "Memory Size Mismatch" or similar. You can just
go into the BIOS, then save and exit. Next reboot, you won't get the
error anymore. If it supports up to 8 GB, you shouldn't have any issues.

Although, I have not installed it on that particular model (I have on a
Dell with that error, and the same resolution).
