Vista 5466?

Basically it says they got a look at build 5466 and assume it will be
available to TechBeta later this week. They say it already contains some
functions of RC1 (doh).

The second paragraph says, in part,
"The new version brings some improvements with itself, among them the
revised power measurement and the new fact that the user is equipped with
administrator rights now after the installation."

The third paragraph just says More tomorrow, especially about the power
management features.

I guess you'll just have to stay tuned.

From a private chat this morning I learned that the current build in
internal use at MS is 5490 or slightly higher. It is not possible that the
next interim build released to TechBeta will be as low as 5466. There is a
small lead time in preparing for an interim drop for the testers, so the
next drop is likely to be at least 548x or higher.

You Just Violated Your NDA!

No, I didn't. TechBeta is not under NDA. When will you get that through
your noodle, Kevpain?

What, because he suggested that the current internal build is 5490? What
wrong with saying that? Beyond that, all I've read in Colin's post was mere
speculation.

Get a grip...

Hey Kevin:

"Build 5488"
"Build 5493"
"Build 5501"

OMFG!! NDA!! NDA!! <Kevin's head explodes>

P.S. The Next Build of Windows Vista could very well be Build 5466 as a CTP
Build for Technical Beta Tester's, MSDN Tester's and Tech Net Plus Tester's,
after all, Seth Adams, MSDN Program Manager, has said that MSDN Tester's
will be getting a Post Beta 2 CTP some time in the near future, most likely
before RC1 gets released as a CPP, Just FYI. You can read his comments on
the MSDN Subscriptions Home Page.

OH Kevin!!!!

Did you take a look at Seth Adam's Remark's? The Next Release may be a CTP
Release (for not only Technical Beta Tester's, but also for MSDN Tester's
and Microsoft Tech Net Plus Tester's as well, just FYI) rather than an
Interim Release, also just FYI.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next release was provided to technet...
However, I would not expect the build number to be 5466 :)

Also, take a look at the Recent Story Posted by Jason, Microsoft is
supposedly going to be Pushing Quality rather than Quantity in their Next
Release, in order to Please their Stock Investor's. That indicates that the
Next Release will be a CTP Release rather than an Interim Release.

I believe that the word Tech Net is a Typo, because although Microsoft
allows MSDN Tester's to Download Beta Software, Tech Net Plus Tester's must
wait until they receive their Monthly DVD Shipment's in the Mail and are
usually 2 Month's Behind in getting New Beta Software, just FYI. They
probably meant to say MSDN Tester's and said Tech Net by Mistake. P.S. You
need to be either a MSDN Tester (all except Library) or a Microsoft Tech Net
Plus Tester to get access to Windows Vista Beta 2. Regular Microsoft Tech
Net Tester's do NOT get access to Windows Vista CTP Build's.

I don't know where he's been hiding but if someone can send him a return
shipping label I will be eternally thankful. :)

An MS programmer just displayed a build 5474 screen to answer a question in
TechBeta, so I don't think MS feels that build numbers are particularly NDA.
Not that I ever thought that anyway.
