I purchased the WVista home premium upgrade and installed it. I then ordered
the 64 upgrade from microsoft.
Now for the question: Is there a way to upgrade to the 64 upgrade from my 32
installed Wvista. Or do I have to re-install XP and then upgrade from the 64
disk that msft sent me???

You can't upgrade from 32 bit windows to 64 bit windows.

There's been a recent discussion on this problem in this group.

Hello Mike.

You will have to do a clean install from 32bit to 64 bit. (you cannot )
install over xp or vista 32, you will use the same install key from your
vista 32 disk when installing your 64 bit version. then you will have to
reinstall your software.

I would download and store all your system hardware drivers on a usb storage
device or second harddrive before install of the 64bit version ( can save
some stress) Note!! antivirus! some will not install but there are some good
free ones for a home user. www.avast.com is one. Some printers do not have
64 bit drivers so check that yours does.

Some software will not install. but that is getting better everyday there
are a lot of patches and updates around. i went from 32 to 64 bit around 5
weeks ago, been very happy without any problems. but i am lucky i guess some
are having problems.

Good luck.
