I have two different plextor drives (different models) both fairly new.
They read media fine but when I put a blank CDROM into the drive Vista never
recognizes the disk are there. There is no autoplay option available to
make the disk writeable. Anybody have the same problem.

Thanks,

Bryan
Vista Ultimate Ed.

It's likely this is a firmware issue. Check either with your Computer
manufacturer or Plextor for an update.

I thought the same thing. I have updated the firmware to the latest
release.

I had same problem with my SATA DVD/CD writer. It turned out to be a
virtual drive (Deamon Tools) that was conflicting with it.

I have the same problem with the LightScribe drive in my HP a1440n computer.
HP hasn't come out with any updated firmware/driver, so right now I'm using
an external usb cd/dvd burner, it's working fine.

BP,

I have deamon tools loaded as well. I use this program all the time. Did you find a solution?

Thanks,

Bryan

This is confirmed. I have just uninstalled Daemon Tools and the Vista recogizes my blank cdr. Hope this gets fixed. I used Daemon all the time.

Try a different make of media?

I had to update the firmware in my PX 760 and PX 716SA drives to get
VISTA to see them but you say you have checked this.

Yes. I just did a update to my PX-755A and PX-712A. They work fine when I uninstall Daemon Tools as stated in my last post. Hugh are you running Daemon Tools?

Thanks,
Bryan
