visit counter for web page

Can anyone recommend a (free) self contained counter for a local html page

I have a small number of web pages on an (internal) network that are used
for sharing contact details, handy links, etc within my workgroup and I
would like to get some idea of the patronage this is getting.

googling turned up about a gazillion web based counters but as this is a
closed network this is not an option....

I have tried the "WWW-page Access Counter for Windows NT" by Henn Saar, but
it doesn't appear to work (I just get an image holder, no counter)

User Fingerprints.
PHP or Perl, can count multiple pages and more. Used this for ages and
it's a fantastic script.
