I have a Visioneer Paperport 3000 flatbed scanner and used it often
with Win95. When I switched to Win98, I installed the same software
that came with the scanner, and it worked but gave me error messages
after scans.
I had to get a new hard drive recently and reinstall Win98. I never
reinstalled the scanner software. I found on the Internet, not on the
Visioneer site but on a site for drivers, an updated driver for
Visioneer Paperport 3000 (3000.exe). Instructions said that the old
driver must be deleted before the new driver is installed. But I had
never installed the old driver.
So I went through the instructions, anyhow, and ensured that anything
they said to delete wasn't on my computer. Then I double clicked
3000.exe and got some warnings that this was not the right thing to
put on my computer. It also said that it was for Windows NT. I went
ahead and installed anyhow because I have GoBack software and knew I
could go back to before I installed it.
The installation didn't work at all, so I used GoBack, and I was back
where I started. I decided to try to install the original software I
had on CD, then follow instructions for updating the driver. But that
didn't work, either. I just got error messages, "Explorer has
performed an illegal operation . . . ." So I again used GoBack,
GoBack saved me, but I still can't use my scanner. Anyone know
anything about the Paperport 3000 and Win 98?
Thanks,
Beth
