I have a secondhand Visioneer One Touch 7600 USB scanner I've been
trying to get to work on a Win98SE system (Packard Bell PII, 233 Mhz). I
downloaded and installed the 7600USB driver from Visioneer's ftp site,
then installed PaperPort 6.1, which recognizes the scanner as a TWAIN
source. Windows reports the scanner as ready. However, FBDIRECT.EXE will
not connect and initialize the scanner, and File>Acquire or the TWAIN
button in Paperport give a "TWAIN device is already in use" error. This
computer has an Intel USB chipset, not the Via or SIS ones that are said
not to work with this scanner. A Google search yields mention of tweaks
to WIN.INI and TWCONF2.INI that don't help, nor does the downloaded user
guide. My older Visioneer 5300 One Touch parallel-port scanner and
PaperPort 5.3 worked on the same system without problems. Has anyone
reading this had the same problem and found a solution? Does anyone have
the original installation disc for the Visioneer 7600 USB scanner?
