I'm working my way through my computer as I finally plan to install XP
SP2. Does any special attention need to be paid to a Visioneer 7100 using
the original drivers that came with the scanner? Works OK now and I want
to keep it that way.

But you are not running XP right now by the sound of it. Check what
version of the drivers you have and check on the website to see if it
should be compatible with XP SP2, and also to see if there is a later
version. If there is, download it and if you need it, you have it. BTW
is this an upgrade or a FORMAT C: kind of installation? If the later
I'd install the latest drivers in the first place.

Sorry for not being clear; I'm using XP Home with SP1, as it came with the
computer and innumerable patches.

OK, *if* you are not having any problems with the PC upgrade to SP2 and
see how it goes, but I'd still suggest checking the web site to see if
there is a specific driver for SP2, or a newer one than you have.

OTOH if the PC is playing up a bit, upgrading to SP2 might push it over
the edge - be prepared to reformat!

You might want to make sure all your documents, scans & so on are safely
saved on CD first.
