Hopefully someone knows how to do this. I recently hosted my website on my
server, which of course is located on my LAN. Because the bandwidth usage
was getting so high I moved it offsite. Only problem now is I can't see my
site. I know from in the past there was a way to go in and clear some type
of IP information through the run command but for the life of me I can't
remember. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Run the command prompt, (if there is one in vista) and type '' /iprenew ''
without the " and you will be picked it with a few options with what ip's you
want to renew, just do the one that renews all ;) Good Luck

The command you're looking for is "ipconfig /flushdns" -- It must be run
elevated.

OK... I am not sure what elevated is. I did run it and that's exactly what
it said and thanks for the info as well.

Thanks

Thanks for all the information every one. The ipconfig/dnsflush seems to have
some reaction but like you said it needs to be elevated. I am sorry but I
don't know what that means or how to do it. Again thanks for all of your
help.

OK... I figured out what you mean by elevated (admin). Now I have run that
command but the weird thing now is when I try to see my website it actually
directs me straight to my router and asks for the user id and password.
So... my computer is still looking at my local IP for this site. I don't
understand why it is doing this but it is. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

To run a command prompt elevated: Type cmd in the Start/search box, then
when cmd.exe appears in the list above, right-click on it and select 'Run as
Administrator'.

Your hostname must be still tied to your local external IP address, which
would mean that nobody can access your website using the hostname, and only
by its IP address.

Have you got a dynamic IP address? If so, you might be using some small
system tray applet or service that is updating your dynamic IP address to
your local external address. Or you may have to contact the company that
gave you the hostname and change what IP address is tied to the hostname.

Of course all this would be easier to sort out if you posted what your
website hostname was.
