Is VirusTotal.com down, or is it just some malware on my computer preventing
access?
Other alternatives to get a SAS quarantined file checked.
Thanks,
Buffalo

VT isn't down. Chances are it is a network problem at Hispasec Systemas.

In my experience the site was/is always correct.

If the site is shutdown and parked then it indicates the site is up. It doesn't verify
that the intended site is up, only that you you can reach it. Therefore it is not always
correct.

Well it says that VirusTotal is down and, although I can bring it up on my
screen, I cannot submit either a file or a URL.

Please, drop me an email.

Yes, I've always found it correct as well.

I frequently find that VT is either very slow, unpredictable or erratic
in operation.

However, I was able to bring it up and submit a file on the first
attempt just now.

I submitted one of my "black hole" exe files (which is mostly identified
as zbot) and Microsoft is one of the 17 AV packages to NOT flag it as
viral.

And by the way - when (and why) did they take Avira out of the list?
Isin't that your favorate AV Dave?

If a given AV module takes too long or has a problem, it will be dropped out of the
report.
