virusscan latest update do not work in Win Me / 98

hi

anyone having problem with VirusScan not working in Win Me /98
machines

latest update causes error in vmain, mcscan.dll, etc.
what gives ?
straight from mcaffee site too

No problems noted using the latest DAT, v4373, ontop of either v4.5.1 SP1 on WinME or v7.1E
on WinME

Yes. Started last Thursday week @ 28th June for V8.0, the online

subscription.(can't speak for V7.0) Continual looping of the auto download.
Advised by techo to uninstall/reinstall. Sounded OK except that since then
have been unable to reinstall. Numerous chat sessions failed to fix,
escalation to Tier 2 support has bought a whole lot of complete silence. No
support.

Eventually solved my problem by purchasing NOD32 as recommended further down
these posts. Have sent severe email to McAfee support stating that since I
do not have the product and they are not providing support, have cancelled
my automatic renewal, which was due around end-August anyway.
 
btw
I was kinda surprise that mcaffee was "giving" away software v8
to past owners of virus scan because of a court order settlement
on some class action lawsuit filed in Ca.
you have until 7/14/04 to accept
