Don't know about all of you but it seems like MY detector is throwing out
about two an hour. How the heck do they find the addresses to send them out
to. I'm getting dense in my dotage. Have a good day. rg

Hey, Dick!

The newsgroups (as well as the Internet in general) are being inundated with
these things. I have been experiencing a full mailbox on my domain because
of this trash. As to where they get addresses from, that's a pretty simple
matter. For example, there is software that can harvest email addresses from
Newsgroup postings.

Hope you're well,

But when will Microsoft filter this stuff from arriving here in the ng???
Certainly they should do that!

It's being worked on, Eleanor. That's all I can say.

I'm getting a ratio of about 30 spam/worm/virus to 1 valid message.
Lately, a worm (or something) infiltrated my site, and fills out webforms
which are then sent to my e-mail.

My antivirus is detecting 3 or 4 different virus's in a month, the latest
one being swenA. I get about 10 of those a day. I NEVER got virus's before
these, and I've been on the Internet for decades.

Question: I've got Win98SE. MS no longer supports the OS, but I'm wondering
if I should use the worm solutions recommended for XP?

I'm wondering if there are real businesses in back of the messages, or if
they are fake as well. Could be that the spam (et al) has another agenda,
such as clogging the Internet, rendering it useless. These virus's and worms
seem to be strictly nusiance items. I wonder if that's true or if people are
using them to break into computers to steal data or ride the wire for
intelligence purposes.
