i have a packard bell pc with xp sp2, i use microsoft anti-spyware, ad-aware
se, spybot s&d and norton 2005 nis trial version. my problem is; i cannot
install new software either from the internet or from disc, it gets so far
and then just freezes, my system won't shut down and system restore won't
restore to any given date. i did recently recieve an e-mail that my daughter
inadvertently opened, it was a chain letter. do i have a virus? how can i
repair the above problems?
many thanks in anticipation.

i know it maybe difficult, but i would try going to trend micro website and
you should be able to do a house call, it check your pc over the next and
scans it for everything, i had all the same programs as you and a firewall
and still managed to get a virus but i did the on-line check and it got rid
of everyhing and pc is fine now, but if toy have a large hardrive it can take
a while 40- 60 mins, but it was well woth it, hope this helps, pete

sorry i wrote that quick it should say that "it checks your pc over the net
for viruses and the like", i need to learn to type better & quicker ;-0

What does Norton say about your malware status?
Usually chain letters doesn't contain viruses.Chain letters are the so
called "hoax" which is not a virus.
