HI,
My pc crashes & re-boots itself when i try to print most web pages & also
when i open & try to print certain word documents which are attached to
e-mails. It has also crashed & re-booted on the odd occasion when not
connected to the internet.
It has an Asrock K7S41 GX M/B, with 2400 cpu, 256mb ram, windows fire wall &
mcafee anti virus 2004.
Help,
Please,
Thanks

Which Operating system is the computer running ?

It could be a hardware conflict or lack of available system resources.

Hi,
Operating system is xp pro.

Do you have a lot of programs running at startup on your tool bar.

256mb Ram is not a lot when running XP.

Try exiting some of the Startup programs and see if the crashes stop.

These starup programs can be personally disabled via Run - type : - Msconfig
go to startup and uncheck the startup programs that you do not wish to
start.

With "windows firewall" - smells like XP to me. :)

Could it be set to "reboot on error"? Does XP log the errors if set to
reboot on error? No Win XP here - only Win XCVIII.

Hi Gerry,

Rt Click on any icons that you do not use on your toolbar and exit the
programs, those that you rarely use, obviously not firewall or Anti-virus.

See if this stops your crashes first.

For example ...
If you have any file sharing programs like Kazaa, they can use large chunks
of memory.

Sound not like a virus. If these reboots are mostly printer related I
suspect that your printer driver has been corrupted. Try to remove the
printer and uninstall the driver files. Then reinstall the printer
again and if possible download an updated version of the driver from
printer manufacturers site.

This can be hardware related too, but reinstalling should help if
there is a conflict somewhere.
